Behind tamielle’s products is the deep belief that designers can play an important role in creating work for people in need. Tamielle’s workshop aims to support women from disadvantage backgrounds. We try to provide them with work opportunities, and the self esteem that comes from creating something beautiful with their own hands.
I hear from so many customers how they struggle to find simple, plain white cotton handkerchiefs.
So we designed these lovely, simple, pure white cotton men’s handkerchief sets.
Our plain white men’s handkerchiefs comes packed in a handmade gift box. Nothing but 100% fine and soft cotton with no decorations.
For those who would like to add a festive touch, we offer the same white cotton hankies set, with a Christmas handkerchief in the centre. A perfect gift for him this Christmas!
My visits to my Bulgarian workshops are always special!
The old town I live in while I work there is called Veliko Tarnovo. It is the old Capital of Bulgaria.
Here it how it looks from my balcony.

Tamielle Handkerchief Stand E-37
When I first launched tamielle 9 years ago – I took a simple A4 page and made a catalogue for the embroidery threads I’m using.
Since then –I have added more and more threads, colours and designs. Tamielle grew and developed and our handkerchiefs are now selling all over the world.
But I still use the same old and wrinkled A4 page as my catalogue.
I love seeing how crinkled it got. It tells the story of endless journeys to Bulgaria and back, the hundreds of hours I used it, took it out, folded it, put more colours… It really represent my tamielle journey of beauty, design , colours and…. Lots and lots and lots of hard work!!!
And it shows on the face of my precious old catalogue. (and a bit on mine too)
The heart and soul of tamielle are the lovely and wonderful Bulgarian ladies who are making all our handkerchiefs and Lavender cushions with their own hands and from their own homes.
Everything is made in ‘Cottage Industry’.
The beautiful hankies that tamielle ladies are creating are sold in the most prestigious boutiques all over the world. They reach so many countries, but each and every handkerchief begins life in the homes, gardens and hands of our lovely ladies.
This is Ivanka, one of tamielle seamstresses. She does the sewing of the men’s hankies and the Lavender sachets with an old sewing machine by her window. The ironing is done in the garden. Her garden is full of flowers and fruits she grows with her husband. I call her ‘Ivanka Ferrari’ –as she is sewing so fast!! This always makes her laugh. I absolutely adore visiting her in her garden and feel it’s a privilege to be able to provide her with work.
As part of tamielle ideology – we absolutely love to collaborate with other women’s projects from all over the world. I’m so thrilled to begin working with a group of embroiderers from Madagascar. They have amazing embroidery skills which remind me of 18th century embroidered silk work. Simply stunning – handwork as it used to be in old times! For our collaboration I took inspiration from a vintage book I discovered in an old bookshop in Moscow. It’s a book about ancient needlepoint embroidery. Such an international hankies they would be too!! Inspiration from Moscow, production in Madagascar, boxes from Bulgaria and sold from England all over the world!! J. Cannot wait to see them ready in time for the Christmas rush. Here is a preview of the embroidery motifs. The ladies are embroidering them now as we speak.
Thank you to everyone who visited our stand at the Paris and London shows.
We are delighted that all the buyers loved the new designs! The pressure is now on our sweet Bulgarian ladies – they have a lot of embroidering to do in order to send all the Handkerchiefs in time for Christmas.
